Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, held a press conference on June 16, ahead of the 14th Suzhou Venture Week for International Elites on July 11, to attract more top talents.

The spokesman of the city government unveiled an action plan at the conference, saying that the authorities will focus on attracting talents to fields such as digital economy and industry innovation.

According to the action plan, the city will hold a series of events to invite high-caliber talents in sectors including high-end equipment, aviation and aerospace, and bio-medicine.

Taicang will also take advantage of its unique position to build a more open and inclusive environment for talents from abroad. For example, it will launch three innovation centers during the venture week to create a more conducive environment for overseas talents.

Authorities said they will roll out five digital platforms to improve services for talents.

To date, Taicang has brought in 680 projects through the venture week.

The local authorities have in recent years introduced 227,900 talents, 24,200 of whom are high-profile talents, to the city.

In 2021, the city brought in a record high 13 provincial-level talents, up 225 percent year-on-year.
