Taicang holds contest to advance innovation
Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, held an innovation and venture contest on June 1 to attract talents and drive innovation.
More than 50 projects were signed during the event, during which the city also explained policies and benefits for participants and promised the provision of one-stop services for prize winners.
Taicang has been making efforts to create a conducive environment for enterprises to pursue innovation.
To date, the city has nearly 900 high-tech enterprises. A record high 750 companies are expected to be recognized as high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises this year.
A total of 212 high-tech projects with combined investments of 4.63 billion yuan ($694 million) have been launched in the city this year.
Taicang has brought in 39 national-level talents, 87 provincial-level talents and 171 municipal-level talents.
In addition, the city has built a large number of innovative platforms, including 45 that are at provincial-level or above.
Considered one of most vibrant innovation hubs in China, Taicang was ranked among the top 100 counties (districts) nationwide in terms of scientific and technological innovation in 2021.
