Taicang bonded area achieves new high in imports and exports

Imports and exports at the Taicang Port Free Trade Zone in 2021 reached $1.11 billion, up 33.1 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by the bonded area on Jan 19.

The growth rate of the area's foreign trade last year was the highest among all the eight comprehensive bonded areas in Suzhou.

Statistics also showed that the business revenues of the companies operating in the Taicang Port Free Trade Zone in 2021 stood at 1.36 billion yuan ($215 million).

Over the past few years, the Taicang Port Free Trade Zone has been enhancing cooperation with ports in Shanghai and Suzhou, and innovating its operation mechanism to improve efficiency.

The Taicang Port Free Trade Zone is home to over 200 companies, 36 projects invested by 26 Fortune Global 500 multinationals, and 36 projects invested by 23 State-owned companies.

The area is currently working to attract more foreign-invested projects. Local authorities said negotiations to launch nearly 20 projects are currently being held.
