Jiangsu province's county-level city Taicang was recognized as the happiest county-level city in China during the Happy Cities of China Forum 2021, which took place in Beijing on Dec 30.

The annual appraisal, which has been held for 15 years, incorporates big data with questionnaire surveys, material declarations, and expert reviews to determine the rankings.

This is the sixth time Taicang has topped the ranking for county-level cities.

Taicang also appeared on the list for "the happiest cities for entrepreneurs" for the first time.

According to the forum's appraisal committee, Taicang has a long history, is a favored investment destination for European investors, and has an advantageous location as it is near Shanghai.

Over 45 percent of Taicang's administration area is covered by green lands. Local residents can take a bullet train and travel to Shanghai in less than 26 minutes, added a Taicang representative at the forum.
