French Consul General in Shanghai visits Taicang

French Consul General in Shanghai Benoît Guidée visited Taicang in East China's Jiangsu province, on June 11.

Hu Weijiang, deputy Party secretary of Taicang, welcomed the consul general. He said Taicang is working to speed up its integration into the Yangtze River Delta and become "a next station to Shanghai".

Hu added that Taicang will strive to provide a better business climate for investors from foreign countries, including France. He said he hopes that the consul general would continue to show support for Taicang, as well as help to facilitate trade and cultural exchanges between Taicang and different regions of France.

The consul general said Taicang left him a good expression, which enhanced his confidence in French companies' cooperation with the city. He said he hopes that cooperation can be reached in environmental protection, public health, and technological innovation.

Currently, Taicang is home to 11 French firms, with their combined investment in Taicang totaling $159 million.
