The municipal government of Suzhou signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai-based plane maker Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) in Taicang on Feb 18.

By integrating Suzhou's manufacturing industry and COMAC's industrial chains, the cooperation will promote China's aviation industry, according to local authorities.

Taicang has brought in more than 20 aerospace industry projects, with a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion).

The county-level city in Suzhou enjoys superior technology, talent, and information resources from universities and industrial parks, including Northwestern Polytechnical University, Taicang Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of NPU, as well as Taicang Aviation Industry Park. 

The geographical advantage of being close to Shanghai, as well as the strong precision manufacturing industry also added to its appeal to enterprises engaged in aviation and aerospace.

In 2020, the output value of Taicang's aerospace and aviation industry reached nearly 10 billion yuan, according to local authorities.
