A project known as the "Noah's Train", designed by Taicang-based Suzhou Licheng Architectural Design Co, won silver at the 7th Zijin Award of Architectural Design and Environmental Art Contest, which concluded in Nanjing on Dec 19.

The contest, promoted by the Architectural Society of China and the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu province, among other institutions, has been held for seven consecutive years and become a significant architectural design event in China.

This year's event asked designers to come up with practical and effective solutions to public health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 outbreak.

The project is a temporary hospital adapted from trains. When a public health emergency occurs, a group of such trains can be built across the country simultaneously and move quickly from city to city, said a chief designer of the project.

The project's multifunctionality, high efficiency and mobility helped it stand out from among more than 1,000 designs.
