Chinese locals and expats mingled at the Sleepless Night of German Taste event held in Taicang, Jiangsu province, on Dec 18.

The event included a dinner party featuring German cuisine and an exhibition of German commodities such as bread, sausages, and candy.

It is meant to increase communication between expats and Chinese locals and boost the city's nighttime economy.

There are many German companies in the city, and many German restaurants, celebrations, and schools have sprung up to accommodate German workers.

In recent years, the city has extended cooperation with Germany to areas such as culture and sports, and activities like beer festivals, football games, and marathons for Germans in Taicang have been gaining popularity.

Matthias Mueller, managing director of the German Center for Industry and Trade in Taicang, praised the city's business environment, noting that it is friendly and convenient and approaches German standards of transparency.
