Taicang streamlines services for foreign talents
Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, has been making efforts to create a better working and entrepreneurship environment for foreign experts in the city.
The Taicang science and technology bureau received praise from a local printing company on Dec 1, as it helped the company streamline the residence permit approval process for a foreign expert at the company, according to Taicang Daily.
In July, the bureau also helped Park Seong-yun, a foreign expert at a local automotive interior parts company, obtain a work permit and a Chinese residence permit within two days in order to attend a business meeting abroad. The procedure usually takes seven working days.
Taicang also released a three-year action plan in March 2020 featuring a series of open and favorable policies in an effort to attract more innovative personnel.
According to the plan, high-level foreign talent working in Taicang can receive as much as 1.2 million yuan ($183,600) in awards over the course of three years, and companies that attract foreign experts can receive as much as 100,000 yuan per high-end expert.
Official data shows that the city is home to nearly 100 talent programs at various levels, and the science and technology department plans to streamline the approval process to attract more talent and offer higher-quality services to foreign talent.
