The fourth China-Germany Small and Medium-sized Company Cooperation Forum and the 13th Taicang Day was held in Shanghai from Nov 27 to 28.

This year's Taicang Day was co-held by the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Business (BVMW) and the government of Taicang.

Attendees include Marcus Held, member of the Bundestag (the lower house of the German parliament), Bernd Althusmann, deputy minister-president of the German state of Lower Saxony, Shi Mingde, former China's ambassador to Germany, Yang Zhiping, vice-mayor of Suzhou, Wang Xiangyuan, mayor of Taicang, as well as delegates from representative offices of German states in China.

Business delegates from a number of well-known German companies such as Siemens, Bosch, Colliers International and Saudio-videoi Formtowardslls also were in attendance.

"Over the past several decades, China and Germany have conducted effective cooperation in many fields," Marcus Held said. "We need to strengthen cooperation in fields such as medical care and climate change to address global challenges."

Althusmann said that many companies from Lower Saxony have set up operations in China and hope that the event would promote bilateral exchange and cooperation.

Shi said that Taicang has set up a paradigm for China-Germany cooperation, adding that the Chinese city has conducted cooperation in fields of economy, education, science and technology and culture.

Yang welcomed more companies from Germany, Europe and America to explore business opportunities in Taicang and pledged that the city would always provide all-round services for foreign companies to invest in the city.

During the event, the government of Taicang signed a cooperation deal with BVMW and co-unveiled the BVMW Taicang Service Center and the BVMW (Taicang) Incubation Center.

The two centers will provide better services for German companies in Taicang, help them conduct international commercial operations and help more German companies invest in Taicang.

Over the past 30 years, Taicang has attracted more than 350 Germany companies to set up operations in the city, generating over 50 billion yuan ($7.6 billion) in industrial output.
