Taicang, a county-level city in Suzhou, is speeding up construction on the International Internet of Vehicles (IoV) Big Data Industrial Park.

The construction project involves nearly 400 workers. It took only five months to complete the capping after the project commenced on April 1.

The project, which attracted investment of $250 million, is expected to begin pilot operations before the end of this year. It will officially start operations in April of next year.

The industrial park aims to become a regional big data center providing customized services for companies in the fields of IoV, cloud computing, intelligent manufacturing and blockchain. It is estimated that the park's sales revenue will be at least 800 million yuan ($117 million) once it reaches its design capacity.

The quick resumption of construction was made possible due to the support of the local government, said Liu Xiaoqiu, general manager of 21vianet, an investor in the center.

He added that the quick resumption of construction helped decrease costs for the company.

21vianet has operated more than 50 big data centers in over 20 Chinese cities, and has been dedicated to the construction and operation of big data centers for nearly 20 years.

"We planned to increase our investment in Taicang when we found out about its favorable business environment," Liu said.
