Shaxi economy thrives after epidemic
Shaxi town in Taicang is overcoming the impact of COVID-19. From January to June, the actual utilization of foreign capital in the town was $28.23 million, up 924.46 percent year on year.
The demand for electronic products is rising amid the epidemic. Alltop Electronics Suzhou Company is a supplier of new energy vehicles and manufacturer of industrial servers. Its output value increased more than 20 percent year on year.
Local authorities said that the proportion of industrial output of traditional products has decreased, while that of electronic products and light industrial products has increased.
The output value of new materials, high-end equipment, and pharmaceuticals accounted for 70.15 percent of the industrial output value of the whole town in the first half of this year.
Taicang Yiben Mold Company in Shaxi is among the best in China. It has introduced new technologies from Switzerland and Japan to enhance productivity and profitability. The construction of the company's third phase has started, and its annual sales volume is expected to reach 90 million yuan ($13.02 million) this year.
In Taicang Biomedical Industrial Park, an in-vitro diagnostic reagents project with an investment of 150 million yuan is under construction. The project will be able to produce 30 million reagents and 100 sets of medical devices every year, achieving annual sales of 500 million yuan.
