Hengxing Artware Co in Taicang, Jiangsu province has resumed production on 5,000 articles of sportswear which are being tailor-made for the Italian delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, local media reported on Mar 7.

The order came from the famous Italian luxury brand Armani and was supposed to be delivered by the end of February. However, the order was put on hold after the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Thanks to the support and guidance from the local government, the company managed to resume operation on Feb 18 and continued work on the delayed order.

“While following strict infection-prevention procedures, we have maximized our production capacity. The 5,000 suits will be delivered within a few days,” said a spokesperson for the company.

Like the other industrial enterprises in Taicang, Hengxing Artware Co has taken every possible measure to avoid cross-infection at the work place, including a 14-day isolation for employees who recently returned to Taicang, the provision of epidemic prevention supplies, separated dinner times, and regularly disinfection of public areas.

Founded in Taicang in 1999, Hengxing Artware Co has expanded its business scope from artware to clothing. The garment factory covers an area of 6,000 square meters, employs 300 experienced personnel, boasts 200 pieces of imported equipment, and has an annual capacity of 1.8 million articles of clothing. Its customers include Guess, ICB, Cross, Cotton Ginny, Target, and Armani.
