German-based Nussbaum Group, one of the world's top three lift manufacturers, will open a factory in Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone (Taicang Port), in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, local media reported on Sept 16.

The Taicang factory will undertake the manufacturing of lifts for passenger cars and transporters, as well as the R&D, manufacturing and sales of spare parts and automobile accessories.

It is expected to boost the port's industrial clustering and development momentum.

Intelligent manufacturing is a pillar industry of Taicang. In 2018, the Taicang government's investment in technical improvements rose 3.6 percent year-on-year to meet the rising demand for intelligent manufacturing.

As of May 2018, Taicang has attracted more than 300 German companies, who have invested an aggregate of $4.5 billion, producing more than 50 billion yuan ($7.5 billion) in industrial output annually.

German companies are impressed by the friendly and efficient government of Taicang, as well as the livable environment, and they are increasing their investments.

A number of German big names, including Schaeffler and Siemens, have invested heavily in the county-level city.

Over the years, the city has attached much more importance to attracting German companies with fame and influence in the global industry.

They provide industry samples for the local companies to follow and, in return, local manufacturers provide better support and services to German companies, forming a healthy industrial development environment.
