Returnee falls for Taicang's pleasant environment, convenient services
Bai Chaoguo, the first prize winner of a venture contest in Taicang last year, has fallen in love with the city after just a year of living and working there.
The small population, high degree of modernization, efficient government departments, and convenient services all contributed to Bai's love for the city.
Bai used to study artificial intelligence and intelligent robotics at the Imperial College of London in the United Kingdom and the University of Montreal in Canada.
He has always sought opportunities to display his talents in his home country, which is why the venture contest in Taicang last year caught his eye.
"I was first attracted by Taicang's pleasant natural environment and then by the local government's commitment to attracting talents," noted Bai.
He soon found out that the city not only has preferential talent policies and convenient services, but has also been ramping up efforts to develop intelligent manufacturing.
The large number of German businesses really thrilled Bai. According to him, the robot arms he developed are mainly used in the field of industrial automation, and German companies are precisely his target customers.
Taicang was not the first choice for Bai in starting his business in China. He and his team once tried to set up a shop in a first-tier city, but they found it difficult due to a lack of complete policies and good service.
"In Taicang, we feel so different," said Bai. In less than a month, Bai was able to set up his company, and his team members came to the city to continue their research and development.
In less than a year, they received more than 10 domestic and international patents with their robot-related technology, and their research results gained extensive attention.
So far, their three different robot arms have been piloted in Chinese universities and research institutes and are expected to be put into service in manufacturing businesses by the end of the year.
