The final of the 2019 Chinese-German Youth Venture Competition wrapped up in Taicang, Jiangsu province on June 12.

A total of 64 venture teams from China and Germany were shortlisted for the final contest with their projects involving high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, biological medicines and new-generation information technology.

A German team from RWTH Aachen University brought their nursing and healthcare sensor system, which can detect conditions and diagnose patients. If the patient collapses to the ground or remains too long in the bathroom, the system will alarm its caregiver in order to prevent serious situations.

Xuan Cheng and his team from Tsinghua University presented a robot featuring long arms, low costs, with the ability to carry heavy loads, which can be used for life sciences and industrial manufacturing to help businesses reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Sponsored by Taicang Municipal Party Committee and Taicang Municipal Government, the Chinese-German Youth Venture Competition has been held for four years.

The 2019 edition of the event set up competition venues in Germany, Guangdong province, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University, attracting 305 entries.
