Taicang eyes wide-ranging cooperation with Germany
Taicang and Germany will seek wider-ranging cooperation in the future, according to a meeting between mayor of Taicang and Consul General of Germany in Shanghai on May 28.
Wang Jianguo, mayor of Taicang, said that the city has rolled out a series of measures to improve its business environment in a bid to attract more overseas companies to invest in the city.
Wang noted that since the first German company KERN-LIEBERS Group settled in the city in 1993, Taicang has seen increasingly close cooperation with Germany.
To date, more than 300 German companies have settled down in the city, according to Wang.
Consul General Christine D. Althauser said that the China-Germany Table Tennis Invitational Tournament just held in Taicang was quite impressive, indicating the expansion of the two sides' cooperation from economy and trade to wider fields.
Althauser also visited Taicang Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, South Garden, and China-Germany (Taicang) Innovation Cooperation Park to learn about the city's history, culture, economic and social development as well as its cooperation with Germany.
