Taicang Museum inked a strategic cooperation agreement with the Collage of Relics Protection and Restoration of the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts on May 22.
The two sides expect to cooperate in students training and scientific research in the near future.
Such cooperation will not only improve Taicang Museum's ability to restore their cultural relics, but also offer an authentic learning environment for students majoring in relics' protection and restoration.
A large amount of cultural relics have been unearthed in a Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) ruins in Taicang since 2016 and restoring these relics will be the primary work for Taicang Museum for a long time to come.
The Collage of Relics Protection and Restoration is quite experienced in relics' restoration for its students have participated in the work in main museums around China.
Founded in 1987, Taicang Museum is the only comprehensive museum in the city and houses more than 2,000 cultural relics in its 7,000 square meter exhibition area.
In addition to porcelains, bronze ware, jades, calligraphy and paintings, Taicang Museum's collection also features local unearthed relics and marine cultural relics in Yuan and Ming dynasties (1368-1644).
