Taicang port area sees double increase in logistics trade

The port area in Taicang, a county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, saw a double increase of its logistics trade volume in two years, according to a spokesman for the Taicang port area.

Statistics from the Taicang port area shows that in 2018 the logistics industry of the Taicang port area generated 49.9 billion yuan ($7.44 billion), a 47.3 percent increase than the figure of 23 billion yuan in 2016.

In recent years, thanks to the internet of things and supply chain management, the port area has shifted from traditional logistics to intelligent one.

The Taicang port area has also constructed a modern service industry development system with port features by establishing the shipping logistics operation center, settlement center for logistics trade, spot trading center for staple commodities.
