Taicang foreign trade value reaches $2.25b in Jan-Feb
The foreign trade volume of Taicang, a county-level city within Suzhou, Jiangsu province, reached 15.08 billion yuan ($2.25 billion) in the first two months of 2019, up by 1.3 percent year-on-year, statistics from Taicang Customs show.
In January and February, the import and export value of foreign-invested companies in the city totaled 10.68 billion yuan, taking up 71.8 percent of the overall foreign trade volume.
Private businesses saw 10.9 percent year-on-year increase in foreign trade volume during the same period to 3.93 billion yuan.
Japan continued to remain Taicang's largest foreign trade partner. In the first two months, the city's foreign trade with Japan surged 12.6 percent year-on-year to 2.05 billion yuan, of which the import trade grew by 29.9 percent to 780 million yuan.
Cargos worth 1.06 billion were exported by Taicang's bonded warehouses, up by 4.3 percent year-on-year and the value of imported cargos by local bonded warehouses jumped 9.5 percent year-on-year to 610 million yuan.
