Reckitt Benckiser Group plc (RB), a British multinational consumer goods company, will establish a plant in Taicang port area, Jiangsu province, according to a signing ceremony between RB and local government on Dec 11.

Before the ceremony, Shen Mi, secretary of the CPC Taicang Municipal Party Committee, met the director of the supply chain for RB health and personal hygiene products in China.

Shen said that as a city along the Yangtze River, Taicang plays an important role in Jiangsu's participation in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta Region.

The State-level Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone is one of the most economically dynamic areas in Taicang with complete infrastructure, a pleasant climate and a sound business environment, Shen added.

He hopes that RB will not only locate its factory in Taicang port area, but also establish an East China headquarters integrating research and development (R&D), production and marketing in the area.

Sales of RB products in China have maintained double-digit annual growth after 20 years of development in the country, according to the RB director.

He said that the British company, therefore, decided to erect a manufacturing base in East China to satisfy the huge demand.

He added that after careful investigation, they were impressed by Taicang's innovative atmosphere and decided to locate their factory in the city.

He also said that RB plans to establish a R&D center in Taicang in the near future and introduce more health and personal hygiene products to the city.

Founded in 1823, RB is a world-renowned producer of health, hygiene and home products and owns more than 200 brands, 20 of which are popular around the world, including the antiseptic brand Dettol, the baby food brand Mead Johnson, and the hair removal brand Veet.
