I am amazed by Taicang port's fast development, Lars Anke, chief representative of the Port of Hamburg's liaison office in China, said during his recent visit to the port in Jiangsu province.

The chief representative made the remark after hearing the brief introduction by Zhang Shuyuan, director of the management committee of Taicang port comprehensive bonded zone, in which Zhang discussed the port's history, development, industrial layout and cross-border e-commerce business.

Anke said that Taicang port boasts huge development potential and will be sure to give full play to its regional advantages in global purchasing.

He expects the Chinese port will strengthen its cooperation with the Port of Hamburg.

The Port of Hamburg, Germany's largest port and the second-busiest port in Europe (after Rotterdam), welcomes 9,000 ships each year with 300 berths. Every year 8.8 million containers are handled there, 2.62 million of which are delivered between the city and China, making the Asian country its largest seaborne trade partner.
