Taicang launches monetary award to support local artists

Taicang recently established a new award to support local writers and artists, with the amount of awards reaching $72,500, local media reported.
The Golden China Rose Award, currently representing the top award in the city's cultural and art circles, is designed to subsidize the outstanding works created by local writers and artists that reflect and promote the city's culture and history, and that have an important influence on society.
The works cover multiple cultural and art genres, including literature, drama, fine arts, calligraphy, photography, music, dance, folk art, and film. The first, second and third prizes will be decided by a team of experts, and will receive a subsidy up to $4,355.
In addition, there is an honorary award designed for the works that have won awards at the national, provincial or city level, with a subsidy of up to $72,500 available.
