The 2018 Cell Therapy and Biopharmaceutical Innovation Taicang Summit opened on Oct 19 in Taicang city, Jiangsu province.

Over 150 distinguished guests from the government organs, research institutes, colleges, biopharmaceutical companies and financial institutions attended the summit, including seven academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Academician Rao Zihe noted the important role of technological innovation and industrial cooperation in the biopharmaceutical sector, while Academician Pei Gang urged biopharmaceutical companies to strengthen their independent capacity and global competitiveness.

Sun Jianjiang, Party chief of Taicang, introduced the development of the city's biopharmaceutical industry, and hoped that the guests present would learn more about the city and join in its biopharmaceutical development.

One highlight of the summit was a roundtable forum led by the seven academicians, who held hot discussions on strengthening the independent research and development of China's life science, and seeing that core biological reagent and materials can be domestic-made as soon as possible.
