The 2018 Taicang Golden Autumn Economic & Trade Month opened on Oct 16 in Taicang, a city in southeast Jiangsu province, where over 300 guests from home and abroad gathered together to discuss economic and trade cooperation.

Agreements on 26 projects worth 21.1 billion yuan ($3.04 billion) were inked at the opening ceremony.

The city's annual Autumn Economic and Trade Month has become an important platform for it to attract investment and conduct project construction, according to Shen Mi, Party chief of Taicang.

"A lot of outstanding projects have been introduced into our city via the Autumn Economic and Trade Month over the past decade," said Shen, extending hope that the newly signed projects would begin construction and bear fruit as soon as possible.

There was also a ceremony earlier that day announcing the start of construction for several key projects that had been signed before, including the Sino-European Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Park project and the China Logistics Center for Danfoss Industrial Control Equipment project.

The value of investment in the city's social fixed assets reached 29.75 billion yuan during the period from January to September, up 4 percent year-on-year.

Other events to be expected in the month include a meeting organized by the Ministry of Commerce, where provinces and cities across the country will share their trade cooperation experiences with Germany, and a parallel session of 2018 Jiangsu International Cooperation Forum on Smart Manufacturing Technology and Industry.
