E-sports competition kicks off in Taicang

The new season of the Freestyle Pro League (FSPL) recently kicked off in Taicang's Tianjing Lake E-Sports Town, Jiangsu province, which is the first time for Taicang to host such an event.
The top 12 e-sport clubs around the country will compete with each other to vie for playoff positions in 132 games over the course of 16 days, which will lie on the weekends of every two weeks until Dec 2, and finally to win the championship and a reward of up to 300,000 yuan ($43,481).
The competition is being broadcast live by six domestic online-streaming platforms and video websites, including Douyu, Huya, Longzhu, Panda, Zhanqi, and v.qq.com. An audience of around two million watched the competition through online video streaming in the first two days.
FSPL, first launched in April 2017, has four seasons a year.

The Tianjing Lake E-Sports Town, located in the Taicang Science and Education New Town and covering an area of 3.55 square kilometers, is a hub for the playing and development of e-sports.
As of July 2018, the town has accumulated 60 key e-sports companies, covering the operations of e-sports competitions and clubs, programing, and the development of network games. Additionally, around 30 e-sports teams have also settled here.
The town was listed among the first batch of the national sports and leisure featured towns in August 2017, and was awarded as the Jiangsu provincial featured sports base in December 2017.
