Taicang was awarded as a provincial double support model city jointly by the Party committee of Jiangsu province, the provincial government and the provincial military district on July 30.

The award is given to a city that excels in mutual support between the local government and the arm forces. It is a sign of unity between the army and the government, and between the army and the people.

This is the sixth time that Taicang has won such an honor, which is selected every four years, with its first crowning coming in 1998. Taicang was also listed as a national double support model city in 2016 for the first time.

Additionally, Dianzhan village of Taicang was also rated as a provincial double support model unit on the same day for its outstanding performance in supporting and serving retired soldiers.
