Taicang, Jiangsu province, whose Cuiguan pear is well-known around the country for its delicious taste, launched a competition on July 26 to pick out the biggest pear, the sweetest pear, and the king of pear.

A total of 14 planting bases or ecological gardens in Taicang signed up for the King of Pear competition, submitting altogether 19 pear samples.

Every pear was weighed by an electronic scale. The winning entrant came from the ecological garden of Dianzhan village, with a weight of 945 grams, winning the title of the “Biggest Pear”.
