For most people, stones are nothing else but just stone yet for a migrant worker in Taicang, he can do paintings from just looking at them.

Kuang Junqiang, from Nanchang, a city in South China's Jiangxi province, came to Taicang to earn a living after finishing middle school in 2002.

Just as is the case for other migrant workers in China, he has worked hard to bring home the bacon, but how on earth did he get to earn a living from stones and paintings?

It turns out that Kuang stumbled across several elder men talking about a stone for a long time on his way home.

The thing caught Kuang's attention and he learnt that these elder men are enthusiasts of fancy stones and in their eyes, a fancy stone is a piece of natural artwork with aesthetic brilliance.

Under the guidance of these men, Kuang took a fancy to the stones, too; however, his affection is a little bit different.

He loves looking at the lines of stones and after observing them for a long time, it occurred to him that the lines on stones are just like Chinese brush drawings, which gave him the desire to draw them out.

Such an impulsion has helped him make a name for himself in local painting and calligraphy communities after years of self-learning.

In 2017, the self-taught painter hosted the first exhibition at his hometown's museum and his works were spoken highly of by local painters and calligraphers.

Although Kuang has made a success in art, he still settles down to do his old work: an installer.

It puzzles many people, but Kuang said that to paint and write is just a hobby and he doesn't want to turn it into a way of making money.

He says the creative process makes him happy and it has nothing to do with fame and wealth.

Besides painting and writing for himself, Kuang also occasionally teaches kids how to paint.
