Frankfurt, the fifth largest city in Germany, celebrated a rather unique day on May 29: Taicang Day.

It was the 11th year that Taicang, located in the south east of Jiangsu province, has organized the event in Germany, with activities such as educating locals about the city, agreeing on cooperative Sino-German projects and reporting on the development of German companies in the Chinese city.

Taicang is a popular place for German companies to locate because of its geographical advantage in bordering Shanghai and favorable business climate.

To date, more than 300 companies from Germany have settled down in the city, generating over 50 billion yuan ($7.85 billion) each year and 400 or so local companies have ties with German counterparts.
