Officials from Taicang in Jiangsu province have decided to travel the world in their attempts to attract the cream of the crop in global talents.
The Chinese city organized a global entrepreneurship competition with four divisions, running from May 25 to July 12: Germany and the Netherlands, the United States and Japan, the United Kingdom and Ireland, and China.
The entrepreneurship competition started in its first stop – Frankfurt, Germany on May 25.
A total of 19 participants entered the contest and Yang Tao, a Chinese researcher at the University of Aveiro in Portugal, ultimately carried off the first prize.
Yang flew for a dozen hours to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Competition in Frankfurt.
High temperature fuel cell was Yang's study field.
He knew very well that his project can only be undertaken in China for his home country is abundant in ceramics and rare earths, of which his project was in dire need.
Actually, Yang once went to the Chinese city to explore a local battery factory and the city's favorable entrepreneurial environment really impressed him.
He himself also felt the rapid development in China over the past years. "In some aspects, China behaves better than Europe," Yang said.
When being asked about the final to be held in Taicang in July, Yang was quite confident.
For those Chinese overseas students who wanted to start businesses in their home country, this competition gave them a perfect opportunity.
