Taicang has long been the home to culture with rich cultural heritages and long education benefits and formed the unique Loudong Culture.
Today, Taicang shows great cultural diversity and has been titled the home of bridge game, martial arts, lion and dragon dance, classical music, folk music and dancing.

A "ten-minute fitness circle" including both urban and rural areas has taken shape in the city, piquing public interest in physical exercise. Taicang has also hosted a number of international and national cultural and sporting events, including the "IAAF Race Walking Challenge”, the China Women's Volleyball Championship, and the China "King of Kings" Martial Arts Competition.
The city has also managed to establish both state-level and provincial-level demonstration zones for public cultural services, and it has been named a "National Reading Demonstration Base" and a "National Demonstration Base for Cultural Services for the Elderly".
