Taicang has sought to integrate into Shanghai in industrial development, transportation, tourism and other fields in recent years.

Numerous high-tech projects from Shanghai have settled down in Taicang.

Statistics from Taicang's Development and Reform Commission show that in the first quarter of this year the city introduced 84 Shanghai projects with total investment of 3.73 billion yuan ($585.7 million), a 30 percent increase year-on-year.

And then of course along came Shanghai's high-tech talents.

This year's events of Taicang Day in Shanghai's universities and institutes and a forum themed on high-tech talents were at the forefront of Taicang's integration into Shanghai.

The city also inked cooperation agreements on research and production with the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and the Zhangjiang Institute of Fudan University.

All the above moves encouraged more Shanghai talents to start businesses and commercialize their sci-tech achievements in Taicang.

To establish a hub of sci-tech innovation industry was another move by the city to integrate into Shanghai's construction of a sci-tech innovation center.

In addition, the city cooperated with the Shanghai Urban Construction and Design Research Institute (SUCDRI) to help Taicang's traffic network connect to that of Shanghai.

Shanghai's travel agencies and media were invited to tour the city, a "Taicang plus Shanghai Disney Resort" travel product was promoted in both cities and a recreational vehicle camp was jointly established to further establish Taicang as Shanghai's "backyard garden".
