Taicang's cultural tourism industry is being stimulated by the increasing number of large-scale cultural tourism projects that have settled in Taicang, Jiangsu province, drawn by its abundant natural resources and privileged position, Taicang Daily reported on April 16.

The Taicang Evergrand Cultural Tourism City, invested by the Evergrand Tourism Group, will house various entertainment and commerce facilities, such as an international conference center, an exhibition center, five-star hotels, a yacht dock, a cultural innovative town, a food street and a bar street.

More than 12 million visitors are expected to come to the cultural tourism city each year, creating approximately 20,000 jobs and consuming 10 billion yuan's ($1.59 billion) worth of products and services after the project is completed.

Funded by Fosun International Ltd, a Chinese international conglomerate and investment company, the Fosun European Style Town is under construction. It will include an indoor snow and ice world, a water park, and a Club Med hotel. Five million visitors are expected each year.

In addition, the Taihe commercial complex worth 4.2 billion yuan will introduce the five-star Pullman Hotel and house a shopping and entertainment plaza.

All the areas in Taicang, especially the rural ones, use their advantage to offer special cultural tourism products, such as the red tourism in Yangcao village, the sea of flowers in Menghe village, fishing in Dulou Lake, and fruit picking and eco-agriculture sightseeing in the Jincang Lake area.

Red tourism is a special kind of tourism in China in which people visit locations with historical significance to Chinese Communism to rekindle their sense of class struggle and proletarian principles.

Insiders believe that based on Changjiang Estuary Resort, Modern Agriculture Park, Jingcang Lake, Shaxi ancient town and factory outlets plus the newly-built projects, Taicang's all-for-one tourism is taking shape and beginning to integrate large scale amusement parks, delicacies, ancient towns and rural tourism.
