Taicang, a county-level city in Jiangsu province, welcomed about 183,000 visitors during the seven-day Chinese New Year holiday, Taicang Daily reported on Feb 22, citing statistics from local tourism authorities.

Shaxi ancient town, Jincang Lake Park, Shuangfeng Ecological Park, the Modern Agriculture Park and Tianzhuyuan rural tourism area claimed as the five most popular scenic spots, greeting 81,600 visitors, 21,000 visitors, 18,400 visitors, 12,900 visitors and 8,000 visitors respectively.

Statistics show that visitors from Shanghai, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces are the top three ones outside of Jiangsu provinces and 75s and 85s visitors were the primary consumers, accounting for 35 percent and 32 percent of the total visitors respectively.

Due to its convenience, lost cost and environmental friendliness, sharable electric cars have become a new option for Taicang's visitors.

The 132 rental outlets in the city received approximately 2,000 orders, seeing 1.6 times increase year-on year.

An art performance, a lantern riddle contest and a hand-made rabbit-shaped lantern contest plan to be organized at Liuhe ancient town to celebrate the upcoming Lantern Festival, which is expected to attract more visitors.
