Some 30 projects worth over 50 billion yuan ($7.6 billion) were signed at the opening ceremony of 2017 Taicang Golden Autumn Economic and Trade Month on Nov 8.

The economic and trade month event has been run for 10 years and is Taicang's most important platform for attracting investment and projects.

This year the event features new areas for investors, including emerging industries, advanced manufacturing industry, and service industry.

A variety of activities have been organized for the event, including the 2017 China-Germany Hidden Champions Summit, 2017 Taicang Investment Briefing, and start-ups of major projects.

One of the projects announced is a logistics, sales and warehouse center in Taicang for Skechers, the second largest footwear brand in the US. The headquarters of its official website and e-commerce companies, distribution center, R&D center, training center and its outlets will also be built in Taicang.

With a total investment of $360 million, the Skechers project is expected to be finished in the next two years and to pay a total tax of more than 300 million yuan by 2023.

The 2-billion-yuan China-Germany Advanced Manufacturing Technological Innovational Park will help to develop high-speed train technology, green manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, service robots, scientific equipment and instruments, and other emerging industries.

After being put into operation, the park is expected to introduce 50 international technological cooperation projects, 20 sci-tech companies and more than 200 overseas innovative and startup talents to promote the development of Taicang's high-tech industries.

Evergrande Child World, China logistics and sales center of Danfoss, one of the largest manufacturing companies in Denmark, Taicang Port European and American High-tech Industrial Park, and other projects also announced their commencement at the opening ceremony.
