The First Cross-Straits Bridge Game was recently held in Taicang, Jiangsu province, marking the beginning of cultural exchanges between Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

Some 13 teams from Taiwan, Taicang, Shanghai, Beijing, and Kunshan were invited to participate in the game.

Compared to other games, the biggest feature of the bridge game is its quietness. Except for the slight sound of players showing their cards, one can barely hear any sound.

Zhang Jianglin from the Taiwan team said that their main target to join the game is to make more friends in Chinese mainland and experience its rich local culture.

He hopes for more opportunities in the future to go to Chinese mainland and make exchanges with local residents in other fields.

Besides the bridge contest, Taiwan guests also admired the performances presented by local folk art groups, including martial arts, ensemble of traditional Chinese musical instruments, and Shanghai opera.
