Landscape painting exhibition opens in Taicang
The Third Taicang Landscape Painting Exhibition opened at Taicang Museum, Jiangsu province on Oct 20, running for the next month.
A total of 207 paintings have been selected from 3,500 work submissions from around China by the reviewers from the Chinese Artists Association, of which 50 paintings have been identified as excellent works after two rounds of selection.
The exhibits are mainly Chinese landscape paintings using different expression techniques, unique aesthetic perspectives, and distinctive artistic personality.
They show that contemporary painters have inherited the essence of Chinese traditional landscape paintings and have also made innovations on the bases of former Chinese painters.
Taicang is an ancient city with rich traditional culture and is home to the Loudong painting school (called Loudong for the city is located to the east of Lou River).
In order to promote Loudong culture and Chinese painting, Taicang municipal government together with Chinese Artists Association has organized the landscape painting exhibition since 2014.
