The international sailors' club Home of Sailors started to receive sailors from home and abroad in Taicang, Jiangsu province on Sep 28.

The club is expected to offer basic welfare facilities to sailors arriving at Taicang port from all countries, make them feel at home, and help the port to develop into an international hub and improve the port's image on the international stage.

A better reception service will improve the port's soft power, optimize its investment environment, strengthen its competitiveness, and boost the development of its shipping industry.

As one of the supporting facilities at Taicang port, the club shows the port's infrastructure construction and represents the port's service level.

After 20 years of development, Taicang port has become the largest container port along the Yangtze River, ranking 35 on a list of the top 100 global container ports.

The port's container handling capacity exceeded 3 million TEU and its cargo handling capacity amounted to over 176 million tons with an increase of 16.7 percent and 20 percent respectively in the first eight months this year.
