Aging in developing countries discussed in Taicang
A 20-day forum discussing the issues of aging populations in developing countries came to a close in Taicang, Jiangsu province on Sept 28.
Some 30 government officials and experts from 12 countries, including Ethiopia, Honduras and Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the forum to discuss the model of sustainable development for aging societies.
Each country shared their experiences of how they currently deal with populations that are living longer and how to make sure the elderly continue to be cared for by governments all over the world.
Approaches such as smart homes, and the exchange of resources, technology, and knowledge between developing countries were discussed.
Officials also visited projects showcasing sustainable development in China's society and economy in Shanghai, Suzhou and Taicang, exchanging ideas with local experts in handling the key issues.
The forum on aging in developing countries is one of the main activities of South-South cooperation in the field of population this year. It is also the 31st foreign aid training course hosted by the National and Family Health Center.
