More than 600 students from over 400 families have benefited from summer schools this year in Taicang, Jiangsu province, Taicang Daily reported on Aug 29.

The summer schools were launched by the Taicang Civilization Office, Taicang Education Bureau, and other government agencies in a bid to help out the parents too busy to look after their children.

Ten schools have been established across the city and over 200 volunteers from 27 government agencies, and over 20 enterprises, institutions and social organizations have volunteered to work for the schools.

The schools offer students courses on basic laws, self-protection, vocational skills, society, and school work tutoring.

The graduation ceremony of the summer schools was held at a small theater at the Taicang Culture Center on Aug 28.

An art performance was staged by the students and volunteers, showcasing what they had learnt during the summer vacation and to celebrate the graduation.
