Taicang in Jiangsu province has come in at 19 on a list of the top 100 e-commerce counties, according to data released by Ali Research for 2016.

In recent years, Taicang has strengthened its support for e-commerce by improving its infrastructure including logistics facilities and storehouses. It has also granted subsidies to e-commerce enterprises that provide services and applications, as well as those that provide training, and e-commerce trading parks.

As a result, the city has seen the birth of many excellent e-commerce enterprises, including Xiben New Line Stock Co and Yaloo, which will help local traditional industries transform and upgrade.

Many agricultural enterprises and cooperatives in Taicang have also embarked on fresh food e-commerce. And online shopping has become a major part of consumers shopping habits.

The list is based on data from China's e-commerce giant Alibaba as well as national census data, which comprehensively show e-commerce development across China.
