Updated: August 28, 2017

Huangjing town in Taicang, Jiangsu province has reached a total of 18 industry-university-research cooperation deals with domestic universities and colleges. Over 30 university-enterprise cooperation projects are still being finalized.

Partners include College of Textile and Clothing Engineering of Soochow University, the Center for Technology Transfer of Soochow University, Donghua University, and Tongji University.

The move to encourage local enterprises to cooperate with universities is aimed at helping traditional enterprises transform and upgrade.

A series of preferential policies have been launched to encourage enterprises to bring in advanced technologies and talents from universities, providing traditional enterprises with a chance to turn into high-tech enterprises.

In the first half of 2017, Huangjing established a steady university-enterprise cooperation platform with the help of Soochow University's technology service station in the town.

A recent result of Huangjing's industry-university-research cooperation strategy was the successful agreement between Soochow University and Shenjiu Chemical Fiber Co on the establishment of a collaborative innovation center in Huangjing town on Aug 8.

According to the deal, Soochow University will academically support Shenjiu's chemical fiber industrial development. They will also provide new technology and new products R&D, and the advancement of research projects.

Shenjiu will offer Soochow University's teachers and students a base for cooperation and exchanges.
