Taicang in Jiangsu province launched a photo exhibition promoting the close ties between the city and Germany in the German town of Julich in western Germany on July 30.

The exhibition, titled China-Germany Story: Start from Taicang, consists of six photos presenting the lives of local people in Germany and Taicang.

The photos have attracted many people in Julich to pay a visit to the Julich Museum to take a look.

The works were created by Zhao Hui, a renowned Chinese photographer who spent half a year travelling around Germany and Taicang for the project in early 2017.

Zhao was invited to work on the project by the Taicang government, which hoped the famous photographer could show the world a beautiful Taicang and the lives of German people in Taicang and their home country.

Wei Guoling, head of Taicang's publicity department, explained that the photo exhibition held in Julich serves as a gift for the German town, which forged a sister city relationship with Taicang on May 11.

Julich is the first place in Germany to form sister city relations with Taicang.

The exhibition is also expected to help people from the two cities better understand each other, and also to promote exchanges and cooperation on the economy, culture, education, and other fields between the two cities, Wei added.

The exhibition, running until the end of October, has been included in a series of cultural events celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.

Taicang's cooperation with Germany began in 1993 when the Kern-Liebers Group formed a subsidiary in Taicang. At present, Taicang is home to over 260 German companies.
