Taicang scenic spots see May Day revenue bump

Crowds of travelers are a common sight this year on International Workers’ Day. International Workers’ Day saw a large number of visitors flood Taicang’s major attractions, which helped generate considerable revenue for the city’s tourism sector.
Many visitors made their way to Jincang Lake, a wetland park that boasts a range of entertainment and sports activities. It is considered one of the most beautiful sites in Taicang with the many roads, paths, plants, pavilions, and islands designed specifically for the purpose of allowing people to relax and enjoy nature.

According to statistics provided by Taicang Municipal Tourism Bureau, Taicang Modern Agricultural Scenic Spot, ancient Shaxi town, and Jincang Lake received 26,000, 33,600 and 75,000 visitors respectively.
Taicang Modern Agricultural Scenic Spot's Fungi Cultural Center, an eco-tourism project, saw a revenue growth of 53.42 percent compared to last year.
The Dianzhan village made a profit of 750,000 yuan ($108,000) over the course of the three-day holiday with the eco park attracting the greatest number of most sightseers, around 22,000. Dianzhan village has been listed as a national model site for agritourism and stands as one of the 10 most charming areas in Suzhou. In the past year Dianzhan village has started to create stronger ties with agricultural research institutes in order to offer a greater number of projects and help to boosts its eco-tourism sector.

In recent years, Taicang has greatly improved its tourism facilities and services, which in turn has stimulated the city’s tourism industry. The city authorities have promised to continue launching more projects in the hope of continuing to improve the experience of tourists.
