The ship, also known as CNS Zhenghe, is a Chinese navy ship and is named after China’s historic adventurous admiral and diplomat Zheng He, who was a pivotal figure in Taicang history.

Zheng He (1371-1433), was a famed mariner in ancient China renowned for his seven expeditionary trips to Southeast Asian, South Asian, West Asian, and East African countries. All of Zheng He’s voyages set sail from Taicang, and this is why memorial hall and park were built in the city to commemorate Zheng He and his brilliant adventures.
