Taicang held a promotion fair in South China's city of Shenzhen on April 27 to attract investment, and 25 projects were funded by suppliers in Shenzhen.

The 25 signed programs, which cost a total of almost 10.6 billion yuan ($1.54 billion) were focused in sectors of science and technology, talent, modern service, and industry, and would greatly push forward Taicang's industrial restructuring and upgrading.

Shen Mi, Party secretary of Taicang, delivered a speech at the fair. He spoke with emphasis on the city’s desire to strengthen ties and exchanges with other regions in order to catch up with revolutionary technological and industrial trends. Taicang, as he put it, was on the way to enliven its business environment and atmosphere, and provide better services for investors.

Taicang is aiming to be a pioneer in the high-tech and innovation sector in the southern Jiangsu province region, which is considered highly developed in the southern Yangtze River area, and even throughout the whole country.

On the basis of its industrial competitiveness and favorable location, Taicang achieved far more progress in developing its modern services and advanced manufacturing as well as updating the finance, e-commerce, and logistics sectors. It has made full use of big data, cloud computing, and internet of things technologies to seek out emerging businesses.

Up to now, it has boosted a string of prominent projects and industrial clusters such as the advanced high-tech zone, university scientific research clusters, industrial parks, and furthered ties with research institutions outside Taicang, like Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District, Shanghai Disney resort, and the Research Institute of Shanghai Tongji University in Taicang.

Targeted to be one of the most popular ports in the Yangtze River delta, Taicang Port has been making great strides to improve its infrastructure and shipping systems.

The promotion delegation also paid a study and investigation visit to leading Chinese enterprises and research centers in Guangdong province, including the Guangzhou Science City Project, the Songshanhu High-tech Industry Park in Dongguan, Shenzhen Science and Technology Industrial Park, a robotics research institute, and the Shenzhen-headquartered Huawei Corporation.
