Taicang Day to spur future Sino-German cooperation

"Taicang Day", an annual Sino-German promotional event, was held in Stuttgart, the capital of Germany's southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg, from Oct 26 to 27.

The successful event was the fulfillment of an agreement reached by a Stuttgart delegation in 2015 and comprises the first installment of a biennial globalization program hosted by the city. The Taicang promotional event piqued the interest of the local trade and business community. In total, an impressive 120 commercial representatives and government officials were in attendance.

Baden-Württemberg is a region specializing in both high-end technology and research and development (R&D). These industry sectors provided the basis for meaningful discussions between Taicang government officials and a mixture local German business leaders and academic experts.

Attendees also discussed the possibility of a long-term vocational student exchange program, further development of the first Sino-German kindergarten in Taicang, and German companies' implementation of Industry 4.0 schemes.

A senior Baden-Württemberg official involved in economic developments praised Taicang's involvements in Sino-German cooperation and expressed gratitude for the ability of Baden-Württemberg companies to thrive and grow in the Taicang region.

In turn, Zhu Weige, the People's Republic of China consulate in Frankfurt, stated that the secret to Taicang achieving strong cooperative ties with German companies was to ensure highly efficient government services.

"Taicang Day" is an annual event that selects a different German host city for the purposes of cultural exchange and economic cooperation. This year marks the ninth occasion the event has been held and the region has certainly reaped the benefits with 250 German companies having already been established.
