This was the third annual event of its kind held in Taicang, and this year, as well as there being some familiar and trusted brands, there were new comers such as Koushuiwa Food, a well-known food company, and the time-honored brand of Taicang dried meat floss.

Boiled mutton, branded Qian Yang Ren (The Shepherd), yellow peaches branded Jin Sha Huang, and seven-colored rice from Haifeng Farm, were all well-received by locals.

Many rural cooperatives have come to realize the importance of branding and as a result have registered trademarks in the hope of raising product prices and increasing profits.

This year's tasting event took advantage of the Internet and teamed up with Wechat, a cross-platform instant messaging service. Subsequently, visitors were able to place orders online for products immediately after tasting them.

According to the market supervision administration of Taicang, the tasting event provided a platform to showcase new agricultural technology and new farm products, as well as promote local branded agricultural and associated products.
