Taicang port authorities hold communication events to streamline customs process
Taicang Customs recently joined hands with the city's entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau to carry out face-to-face communication events with export businesses in the city.
Customs authorities hope the cooperation will better inform businesses about the requirements and necessity of customs declaration and inspection, and provide practical guidance for foreign trade companies.
The event will help to improve efficiency of customs clearance, reduce operating costs and expand the market, according to its organizers.
Taicang Power Shell Petrochemical Co was the first company to receive a visit from Taicang Customs and the inspection and quarantine bureau. The company turned over more than 880 million yuan ($130 million) from imports and exports from January to May this year, an increase of 116 percent compared to the same period the year before.
The event was later held in other enterprises - including Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Limited and the Schaeffler Group's Taicang operation - to strengthen policy guidance of and service.
The face-to-face communication event was an important part of the provincial campaign to promote foreign trade, optimize regional industrial structure and boost the development of the new industry of high-tech content, high added value and low energy consumption.
